Abstract
This article aims to provide a legal and technical analysis of the role of military police officers in the State of Pará regarding chain of custody procedures involving evidence preservation, through the examination of current legislation, published works, and any existing regulations within the Military Police of Pará. In this scientific work, documentary and bibliographic research methodologies were employed, demonstrating that although criminal procedural legislation establishes obligations for public agents who respond to crime scenes, the Military Police of the State of Pará lacks standardized procedures concerning the chain of custody of evidence. This deficiency ultimately compromises forensic work, criminal investigations, and, consequently, the entire criminal prosecution process.
